The Hospital of Stomatology, Sun Yat-sen University is the teaching hospital for stomatology of Sun Yat-sen University, a key university directly affiliated with the Ministry of Education of China. It is also a specialized hospital under the National Health Commission of the People’s Republic of China, a training base for clinical specialty physicians in stomatology, and a hospital jointly developed and administered by the National Health Commission and Guangdong Province. Integrating education, healthcare, and research, it is a Grade A tertiary specialized stomatological hospital. The Hospital has been designated as the leading institution for the construction of the National Regional Medical Center of Stomatology, included as a key hospital in Guangdong Province’s High-Level Hospital Development Program, and ranked among the top performers in the national performance assessment of tertiary public hospitals. With a full range of specialties, advanced technologies, and state-of-the-art equipment, the Hospital comprises 14 clinical departments and 8 medical-technical departments. Among them, the Department of Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics, Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Department of Prosthodontics, Department of Orthodontics, Department of Oral Mucosal Diseases, Department of Implant Dentistry, Department of Pediatric Dentistry, Department of Periodontology, and Department of Preventive Dentistry are national key clinical specialties.

The Hospital is home to the Guangdong Provincial Demonstration Center for Experimental Teaching in Stomatology, the Guangdong Provincial Key Laboratory of Stomatology, and the Guangdong Provincial Medical Key Laboratory of Prevention and Control of Dental Diseases. More than 80% of its clinicians hold doctoral degrees. It currently has 150 faculty and staff members with senior professional titles, 45 doctoral supervisors, and 145 master’s supervisors. Nearly 500 graduate students are currently enrolled, and more than 150 outstanding bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral graduates are trained each year.

Length of Study, Tuition, and Scholarships

The standard duration of full-time master’s programs is three years. The standard duration of regular doctoral programs is three years, while that of direct-entry doctoral programs is five years. For students in combined master’s-doctoral programs, the doctoral phase lasts three years. For students whose admission eligibility is retained, the duration of study shall be subject to the regulations in force in the year of admission.

Scholarships and financial aid for graduate students shall be implemented in accordance with the relevant regulations of Sun Yat-sen University.
